Map competition extended

It was the one and only big competition organized by the Zombie Panic! Team: make your own map. But due to a lack of posts the competition is now extended. Officialy the competition ended April 15th, now the competition will close at May 20th, 2009.

Zombie Panic.org: “Also, if you have a Contingency entry that isn’t quite done, work on it and submit it! We need entries for ZPO_Contingency as well.”

Due to the extension we’ll have to wait for new maps to come a bit longer.

Industry is there! Or is it?

People who have been playing Zombie Panic for quite a while, still remember this map: Industry. Loved by many, this map used to be in the mapcycle of every ‘normal’ server. Though, after ZP got implemented into Steam the map had to be removed because of coding problems.

Now, quite some months later, the coding is done, but arguements between the maker of Industry, Archanor, and the rest of the Zombie Panic Team caused the map to stay invisible.

On the ZP forum, hosts of servers can actually download this map, which is now a custom map, and add it. Though, not many hosts are aware of the comeback of Industry. And because of the ever bad relationship between Archanor and the ZP team we don’t have to expect any promotion of it.

The map has been released on the 4th of April. It’s not exactly the same Industry from the old days though. There have been added more weapons and ammo. Maps like Haunted and Nightmare had twice as much of these than Industry, thus the change.

More changes are: tips for shootable container, the layout got reworked in a few areas, including Spawn and Container area, the beam to the roof next to the electric pool is now destructible and zombies can’t be hit when they are spawning in the container with the window. Hosts who are interested in using the map can download it here.

ZP!S level design comes to an end

One more day and then the Zombie Panic! mappers remix competition will be over. Mappers have to the 15th of April to send their own designed map to the Zombie Panic! Team.

Only two maps will eventually win the competition and will be added to the game. The Team will play all the maps to decide which two are actually the best.

The two winners will earn 600 dollars

The two winning maps will probably be perfectionized by the Team and will then be added, meaning two more maps are upcomming for Zombie Panic fans.

Not only will the maps of winners be played, winners also earn 600 dollars.

ZPV joins El!te alliance

The Zombie Panic Veterans will from now on co-operate with the El!te-clan. This clan is specialized in games as Zombie Panic! Source, Zombie Master and Insurgancy. The co-operation will start its own Zombie Panic! Source server, which will be administrated by five ZPV-members: Bob the Salesman, Tom the Truckdriver, Keno, Wolder and Stiff.

The El!te-clan has the ambition to get as big as possible. With ZPV joining them they gain about thirty members. ZPV will keep their own autonomy. Bob and Tom will still be the leaders and there will be no namechange. This website will stay in the air as ZPV’s main world wide web access, but in the future there will be a ZPV section on an official El!te webpage.

You can find more about El!te here: http://elitegaming-community.co.uk/

Since six days Zombie Panic! Source knows a new patch. What’s in it?

The Zombie Panic! Team released their newest patch: 1.5.2. Most interesting is the adding of cvar “sv_zpoldcol”, giving server owners the option to enable old collision (no walking through teammates). This means servers can now decide on their own whether people should be able to walk through eachother or not.

The new patch mostly fixes exploits, but it also contains some cool new stuff. The map ‘Haunted’ is now in nighttime, giving this already scary map even more atmosphere. Also, the desk in the well-known ‘camproom’ in Policestation got removed.

Since Zombie Panic! teammember Tatsur0 is gone for three months we won’t see any changes for a while. However, the Team says this won’t stop them from working. ZP!S players can still wait for upcoming new maps and weapons and there is also people talking about the ability for clan like play.
