Magnum
How to use the magnum
The magnum is probably the best weapon in the game, that is, when you are actually skilled enough to put it to its best uses. The magnum is capable of killing a zombie with just one shot, but only when you deal a headshot.
The magnum contains room for 6 bullets and you can carry up to a total of 18 extra bullets with you. We advise you to drop everything else, or maybe keep just a pistol in case, so that you are fast and swift.
Position
The best place to be with the magnum is in open areas. Just let the zombie come at you and shoot him in the head to kill him instantly. However, some zombies are more skilled then others. The skilled ones will try to avoid getting headshotted. Therefor, they will strave, crouch, jump and act crazy to dodge bullets. Try to remain calm and walk backwards when needed. And keep in mind: a zombie can’t jump for very long, it will fatigue him. Try to find a patern in their straving, just hold the crosshair at one point and wait for the zombie to move through it. All you have to do then is fire at the right moment.
Things you shouldn’t do
Avoid small and dark areas. The magnum is very bad in close combat. Most people panic when they are encountered in a small area when they just have their magnum and fire a lot of bullets. Keep in mind that it will take 3 or even 4(!) bullets in the body to kill a zombie. So it makes a big difference whether you headshot a zombie or fire in the body. Since you can only carry 18 extra bullets, it is very important that you get that headshot.
Versus Carrier
Also important to know is that the carrier has 250 HP. A headshot with the magnum deals 240 damage. This means that headshotting the carrier is not enough to kill him. Therefor, first deal the headshot and then finish it off with a pistol. Do not waste another magnum bullet on 10 HP!
